What computer ? Anything from the last 10 or more years should be fine with 64 bit versions.

It's a Dell Vostro 220 I bought a few years ago for cheap and has been a workhorse running LCNC v 2.7 since 2017ish.

Download the ISO, write it to a USB and try to boot it, it should boot just fine.

I got it to boot and completed through;

cd Downloads
sudo gdebi python-gtksourceview2_2.10.1-3_amd64.deb

Now at the next point I am getting the message;

plaz@plaz-pc:~/Downloads$ sudo gdebi linuxcnc-uspace_2.8.0~pre1.5649.gec411a428_amd64.deb
gdebi error, file not found: linuxcnc-uspace_2.8.0~pre1.5649.gec411a428_amd64.deb

The required file is located in my download folder along with the one that has already processed, any idea what might be the problem? I have tried both 2.9 & 2.8 versions to the same result.

Most probably wrong file name, check the build numbers if they correspond between the downloaded file and the one you are trying to install.

The numbers seem to match. I only downloaded what was linked in the original post.

I did notice a discrepancy between was comes up when I enter the uname -a command and what is shown in the OP.

plaz@plaz-pc:~$ uname -a
Linux plaz-pc 4.19.0-8-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Debian 4.19.98-1+deb10u1 (2020-04-27) x86_64 GNU/Linux

vs.

Should say "Linux some_name 4.19.0-8-rt-amd64 #1 SMP PREEMPT RT Debian 4.19.98-1 (2020-01-26) x86_64 GNU/Linux
"

That should work, the issue above is due to miss typed name of the file not residing in the Downloads folder.

I'm sorry but I do not understand.
I tried this on another computer with 64 bit system with the same result.
I followed the directions correctly (I think) so what do I need to do to get it working?
