I Know I have asked this before , but I am having a 74 year old brain fade.

From the manual:-
####################
Start (start plasma)
Input
Normally open. ...15 VDC open circuit voltage at START terminals. Requires dry contact closure to activate.
CNC port 3,4 Green, Black

Transfer (start machine motion)
Output
Normally open. Dry contact closure when the arc transfers. 120 VAC / 1 A maximum at the machine interface relay.
CNC port 12,14 Red, Black
##############

I am using a 7i96 with the inputs field pwr common to -24v

Would this be correct:-

For Torch-on CNC port 3,green > TB-3 pin 14 then CNC port 4 > TB-3 pin 13 (output)

For Ark OK +24v > port 12,red then port 14 black > TB-3 pin 8 (input)

Clive, this is what I came up with. I may be using different pins. I think you have it right...

I've been using 20:1 voltage divider on the Hypertherm, at the recommendation of @PCW to do 200v full scale ( Post ). This gives you the greatest resolution when using a THCAD10. (You would use 50:1 for a THCAD5, again as PCW suggested).

The largest voltage reading I saw in the 85/65 manual was 148v, and the THCAD can withstand a lot of overvoltage, so I dont see reason to not use the greatest fidelity available.

Just my $0.02. :)

Sorry, I missed that there was a 20:1 divider setting on the Hypertherm. My Thermal Dynamics only has 30:1. I do see it go over 300 volts from time to time but as you say, it is never when it matters.

I have run lower max voltages in the past. The THCAD is that darn accurate, I don't think it matters much.

Rod you have thrown a spanner in the works.

Should I change it to 20:1 from 30:1 if so do I need to change the scale

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!
If you are set up at 30:1 and its working I would not change it but instead file it away in case you need to later.
And, yes changing the divider will require changing a scale.
