I don't think that will cause any issues, the pid component is still loaded and I am not keen on making too many changes to ini files.

While I bring that up, should we comment out the maxerror lines in the .hal as well for stepper systems (I think this was just a stepper thing)? There could be a check box in the configurator for stepper vs servo system.

If it was a stepper system, we'd comment out the following lines (the only 4 with "maxerror" in them):

I am sure if there was a checkbox then everyone would use it correctly like they do to prevent the spindle stuff being included originally.

Since the spindle stuffs is already in the user guide, should we mention the maxerror lines in the user guide at least then as well?

I think thats a linuxcnc thing not a plasmac thing. We should not duplicate any content (if indeed its mentioned anywhere). Possibly pncconf should be taught to do it properly...

It is probably best to create an issue on the LinuxCNC GitHub site and hopefully get it fixed at the source.

One other problem is, I'm not really sure what the problem IS, just learned here that those lines are bad news

Creating issues is easy, just go to the site, click on issues then click on create.

I started to do it today but got sidetracked

I will take a peek tomorrow and if no-one has done it I will create a new one.
