Why do you call it "real" ???
The rest is not real or what ? Blender has a very good cam, so does freecad and inkscape and nativecam for Linuxcnc, sheetcam is very cheap and very good with a free version, all of them work on Linux natively.
Maybe you like Deskproto, and that is subjective, but it does not warrant calling it real.

Can't write objective.
Well, beside the fact, that I did real jobs with it already (gcode of about 30Mb compressed archive) , for me, Deskproto is a bit more than just python scripting.
But hey, I don't know the functionality of the cited apps, so may be I'm wrong.
Cheers Reinhard
