Spindle speed with Pathpilot on non tormach lathe was created by remartinez
I am running pathpilot with a 5i25 mesa board a C35 BOB and a C41 variable spindle speed control that uses PWM and a Teco VFD.
The issue that I am having is that when I am at max rpm the C41 board is only putting out 5v instead of 10v.
Need help on fixing this issue. I have attached hal and ini files.
thanks
Raul

Looks like you are using a stepgen in quadrature mode (a variable frequency pulse generator)
instead of a PWMgen (a variable duty cycle pulse generator) for the spindle speed control
this will result in close to 5V output on a PWM --> 10V @ 100% duty cycle analog circuit

What do I need to do to correct this issue?
Thanks,

First, you want a FPGA configuration (bitfile) that has a PWMgen on P3 pin 1
and then you need to remove all the stepgen2 boilerplate in the HAL file and replace
it with appropriate PWMgen setup boilerplate
I suspect this would require a custom bitfile

That sounds pretty complicated as I am very novice to Linux.
Would using a different board work to avoid to much editing. I have a C6 variable speed board.
Below is a link for the board.

The C6 should work with the stepgen signal and existing bitfile

Thank you for your help. I changed to the C6 board and edited a couple of lines in the hal file and bam! IT'S WORKING!
Just need to fine tune the step length and I should have it dialed in.
Thanks again
