I own a Tormach 1100 mill. I upgrade the motors and VFD and ended up with a extra machine control board. www.tormach.com/store/index.php?app=ecom&ns=prodshow&ref=31045
I also upgraded to PathPilot, I bought the $715.00 controller and have a restore CD.
I'm building a PC to mirror the PathPilot controller to the "T". I have a Fadal TRM with dead contol.
My plan is to run it with PathPilot and use ClearPath motors. I see a lot of guys digging deep into PathPilot to make it work on non Tormach machines.
Since I have a control board will I have all the issues everyone else is having getting PathPilot to run another machine?

You should be fine. you probably will need to tweak some things in the INI file to match your machine/motors but everything else should be good.

We have to do so much because we don't' have the Tormach control board.
And the further we wonder off the path the more we have to do.

I actually thought doing a DYI Tormach control board could make life easier on many.
But, I dont' know if you could sell it, or even open source it. legal stuff yuk

wouldn't stop me from doing my own, just my ability to share.
Thought of it more for a Mill than a lathe though.

Could I ask a big favor?
Could you take some good high res close up shots of the board (both sides) and send to me or post them?

Got to get my son ready for meet the teacher this afternoon.
I will be take some good pic's so you can read and relay#'s.

I'm not on the level you guys are but i was thinking, what if the control board could be duplicated via Arduino or something like that. Just post the program and let the guys buy the parts and build it there self?

Thanks for the pics.
there is only one component I can't make out but I'm sure it's a 12V regulator and that's the one near TP9. the black rectangular part. Otherwise this is a basic BOB with some code running on the PIC/AVR (i'll bet on a AVR for aurdinio) but could be wrong. code would mainly be handling the Limit switch -> freq conversion and the ATC maybe.
if that's the case you dont' need to reproduce the whole board. just the Limit switch and ATC code.

Are you planning to drop the Rigid Tapping feature that the Fadal most likely had before it's controller quit?

The Tormach BOB is probably not capable of handling a spindle encoder pulse.
