Path pilot v1.7.2 /5i25/pmdx-126/pmdx-107 was created by Brooks
I’m helping a friend setup a mill, we’re using path pilot v1.7.2, 5i25, pmdx-126 and a pmdx-107 to control the spindle. We have x,y,z stuff working great, the trouble right now is with the spindle. I’ve studied the PMDX docs quite a bit and I may need some help getting pointed to the right pathpilot-> 5i25 information.
When I make changes to the 5i25 hal file it doesn’t seem to do what I want. My process is make a change and then reboot the pmdx board and the machine that is running pathpilot.
We have the pmdx-107 wired to the VFD that controls the spindle correctly, I can hold the test button for 1 second and it will fire the spindle correctly. But I cannot get it to work correctly from the buttons in path pilot.
In the 5i25 Hal file it says the spindle speed is setup for pin #1 gpio 0 and that the spindle direction is controlled by pin 16 gpio 5. Every time I try and change to these nothing seems to change, and really I dont know where to change the spindle speed port, just the direction:
Hal file:
202 # spindle direction
203 ## P3 pin 16 gpio 005
204 setp hm2_5i25.0.gpio.001.is_output 1
205 net spindle-cw motion.spindle-forward => hm2_5i25.0.gpio.001.out
PMDX-107 docs:
2.1.1 Normal Mode
In “Normal” mode, the PMDX-107 receives the spindle speed controls via the following parallel port pins:
• PC parallel port pin 14 is the Spindle Direction signal, passed through the PMDX-125
• PC parallel port pin 16 is the PWM signal, passed through the PMDX-125
• PC parallel port pin 17 is the Charge Pump signal into the PMDX-125, which then passes a “Charge
I’m not sure if there is something else that has to be changed to to tell pathpilot or the pmdx-126 to use the 107 card? Any help or documentation references would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
