That is excellent work and result. Rotating the screen is a bril move.

How will you manage PathPilot updates? Diff the files and patch?

My machine is running Pathpilot 2.5, but not ready for real work just yet. Rolling stand, electrics panel, probe and ets still to be done. But it cuts al and steel so very happy so far. Presently trying to resurrect a Renishaw TP2 probe. I look forward to enhancing my installation based on your approach.

I would love to hear thoughts on this. Redoing the changes every time you update is a PITA.

I think a combination of 'diff -c' and 'patch' would work if doing an update on regular basis.A script with only the files we know were enhanced for these features would reduce the output to validate visually.

From 2.0.1 to 2.6/7 would likely be a more manual effort. But then again many of the files have only relatively minor changes per release.

The first thing I would love to know/hear about is how Glade was set up for this effort.

In my opinion maintaining PP updates after mod is nearly impossible. I had to freeze updates afterwards. Changes between updates can be huge - new or changed files, new machines, complete system loading rebuild and new LinuxCNC compilation files.
I can live without it anyway.

I discovered nativeCAM the other day.

If there is someone that has played with both PP and NativeCAM - ?

Like to hear what you think of the differences..

hi,

Great work on the screens!

I have question though, are your modifications carried out in code, glade or something else?....

I can't seem to get glade to open my pathpilot screens without getting upset...

cheers!

There is one or more threads recently updated on getting Glade and Pathpilot working together. You need glade-gtk2 for starters.

I tried teh method you mentioned and it did not work. I have yet to see a working example of a PathPilot Screen mod where things like adding a new button were done.

Would love to see a Video on HOW to make it work.

Yeah me too....

I suspect it's coding exercise and gtk will be just for viewing..I thought I'd cracked it but no dice!

Dorro1971, Is there a way to connect with you directly? I'm on IG as gerrit1857 if that helps. It works for me, although the process once you get Glade operational is shall we say quite obtuse. The whole thing makes me glad I (used to) develop on Windows.
