We run the laser at our local hackerspace off LinuxCNC. For raster support, we're using a config largely based on
github.com/bjj/2x_laser
There has been some issues to troubleshoot and this limits us to parallel port.
I just ran across these:
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man9/laserpower.9.html
linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man9/raster.9.html
github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/tree/master/configs/sim/axis/laser
Having a standard setup that would also let us use something like a Mesa card would be exciting.
The only references I've found seems to say it might be LinuxCNC 2.10 only.
Is there any more information on this that I can read?

This is what i used and still use, it is the same as laser as it just uses PWM to control the pressure.
You might want to add an and component so it turns off laser if you stop the program execution.
