probe_basic errore 0x559889a050f0

Hi, I made a clean installation of linuxcnc debian10 linuxcnc 2.8.1 then I ran the guides to install the video interface of probe_basic, but something doesn't work, as soon as I launch the probe-basic program it should start, I visualize the interface for a second and then it closes with the following error.

GL version 2.1 with the gpu_shader4 extension is not supported by your graphics driver but is required for the new OpenGL rendering backend.

Probably means that your video hardware is too old to support GL 2.1
(Core Duo vintage Intel graphics has this issue)

is it just a hardware problem or driver updates? so if i add a video card i could solve the problem

Its solvable by using a add-on video card

Whether its a hardware of software problem is rather subtle
(its probably possible to make a updated GL driver for the older
video hardware but no-one has bothered)

I found this internet page dedicated to intel drivers for linux, but honestly I have no idea how to install the drivers, I don't know all the commands to do it, do you have any idea if it is possible?

Hello, had the same Problem. The internal grafic card has the newest opengl support, but there is no implementation in the linux driver... or it is to old. just use a extra grafic card. you can test probe basic if you use the software rendering. But is not usable for work

you can test it. Start linuxcnc with LIBGL_ALWAYS_SOFTWARE=1
