Updated the system today, including ProbeBasic from version 0.5.4 to version 0.6. The error is still there, but the error message is different.
Is the lathe version tested by anyone before release? If so, on what configuration?

need more information on your build, what debian version what kernel version etc... the sim here is working as expected so i would assume the issue is a compatibility problem you are experiencing perhaps or maybe the custom_config.yml file needs to be updated.

have you tested using the simulation version of probe basic?

did you resolve? did you ever test the sim? and did you check the custom_config.yml settings by comparing to the latest sim version that gets copied over? those sometimes require updating as well if transitioning from older probe basic versions.

rollback/downgrade to 2.8.4: install NativeCAM with Gmoccapy.
I hope that in the future I will be able to use the turning version. I would like to hope that it will also have built-in NativeCAM functionality (there is a problem now, because it does not work with python and glade version 3).
Yes, I ran the simulation and it had such errors. I am also not satisfied with ngcgui scripts and similar wizards. In my opinion, the most convenient for a "home craftsman" is either ELS + CNC. Or a CNC system that will allow you to replace ELS.
Thank you for your work and the time you devoted to the project. This is a really cool project. Unfortunately, all the projects I know are more focused on milling and the turning configuration is done on a residual principle. Perhaps I have a false picture of the world .. but this is exactly what I encountered.

No worries, the lathe interface does need some TLC. I'm going to be running a clean install/update on my machine to see if I can reproduce, on my test pc I could not replicate the errors you reported so makes it difficult to track down where the issue was coming from. Will report back.

What is ELS?

This is an open source project "electronic gears". Very popular among home craftsmen in the territory of the former USSR. The main functionality is to replace the mechanical gears of the guitar machine with an electronic drive. The first versions automated the operation of only the longitudinal feed. The current version 7.2 allows you to automate the operation of the transverse feed. Such operations as thread cutting, cone, sphere - do not require manual dexterity.
Naturally, the Chinese brazenly put it on the WEISS EL250 machine, passing it off as their own development. All comments on YouTube are banned )
The project address is www.chipmaker.ru/topic/118083/ Author - Oleg from Riga.
Initially, I used LPT control based on 2.7 for CNC and ELS for manual work. The BOB25 board is perfect for this. It is enough to pull out one cable and put another.
Using NativeCAM allows you to no longer switch cables. And use one system for convenient control of the machine. Here is an example (video is not mine)
