by color do you mean the overlay doesn't display?

Yea, it just shows the shutdown dialog box.
MX Linux 19.2 if it helps. It's a bugger that it isn't consistent among the different OS'.
I saw you reverted it. Sorry to bear the bad news. Thanks for trying though.

So I had some time to mess around with this this evening (I haven't git pull'd since you reverted).
It seems that if I click the window label in the task bar, then the overlay shows up (with my custom large text).
One problem still is that the first time the overlay is shown, while the overlay now seems to cover the entire window, the message goes off the screen.
Similar to before if I clock No and then go to close the second time, everything is set in the right place and looks good. (as well as the System Shutdown, No, Yes dialog being centered as it should be)
I am not sure if that helps you any or not as the changes were reverted, but I thought I would pass it along anyhow.

Also meant to note that this shows in the terminal:
qt.qpa.xcb: QXcbConnection: XCB error: 3 (BadWindow), sequence: 4670, resource id: 29942281, major code: 40 (TranslateCoords), minor code: 0
