Hello,
Something is wrong. If Qtdragon is running for a while, the retract function does not work for Z measurement or tool measurement. Z simply remains on the button in the triggered state. If Linuxcnc is restarted, it works again for a short while. Maybe there is a connection to the program length of the program being processed, approx. >50,000 steps. Qtdragon also feels a bit slow. BS and Linux CNC Version: 2.10.0-pre0-3685-gcbfe160071 up to date. I noticed the effect with the last version, but I suspected my wiring, but that was not confirmed.

Best regards, Frank.

Could you post a sample long program to test with?

Hello,

no problem, I'm attaching it as a zip file.
It's not that long but this is where the problem occurred last.
I have another problem right now but I'm starting a new topic for it.

Sorry for my google English
Thank you for your efforts.
Kind regards, Frank.

Hello,

I just ran a small program to test the change and the problem occurred there too, so the length of the program is not relevant. I'm attaching the changer routines.

Many thanks and best regards, Frank.

Hello,

of course.

I now suspect that it could be the kernel. The description of a similar routine said that it was time-critical. However, the behavior is not really reproducible when measuring tools and workpieces.

In my test, it happened on the second attempt after restarting Qtdragon and then only after several attempts.

Unfortunately, I can't say for sure whether it could have been a while ago, as I didn't do anything in the summer and therefore only installed the last two Bookworm updates.

Many thanks and best regards, Frank.

I don;t see any glaring problems in the INI.
You could try checking the system monitor to see if a particular program is stealing all the cpu cycles.
You could try a larger servo period to give the GUI more cycle time, but if this is a 'sometimes' problem, I would look at hardware: memory, storage medium, temperature, power supply.

Hello,

Today I activated Kernel 6.1.0-11 Rt and immediately noticed something interesting that I hadn't paid any attention to before. My right mouse button, which I felt like I had to press for a long time before the context menu appeared, now works without any delays, Max Jitter is a good factor of 10 better.
Let's see what Qtdragon says about that.
I can't explain why the current kernel is so noticeable for me.

Best regards, Frank

Hello,

After I thought I had the solution, things turned out differently.
No retract for tool measurement or workpiece measurement.
Tried several times in a row, restarted Qdragon and it worked again. Unfortunately, the message that retrackt could not be executed is not really useful. But I can't provoke the problem either, at least I don't know how, since it occurs in the normal course of events.

Kind regards, Frank.

Hello,
Unfortunately the idea of debouncing the probe button didn't work either. I can press the emergency stop, switch the software off and on again, run the reference but nothing gets it working again, only closing Linuxcnc and restarting it. After that everything is back to normal.

Kind regards, Frank.
