Should I switch from AXIS to QtDragon? was created by langdons
I have a 3-axis CNC router machine working fine with the AXIS GUI.

Is QtDragon better?

Should I switch?

AXIS can be a somewhat annoying sometimes.

its just all round better if you have a 1080p rouch screen, plus it adds probing and too handling if you have repeatable tooling.
it is very well documented

My CNC PC has a nice 1920x1080p 60Hz LCD over DisplayPort via the iGPU.

It has no dedicated GPU.

AXIS has better keyboard shortcutrs in theory, though many of them simply do not work for no reason at all in reality.

My mouse on the PC is poor (I dropped it on the hard concrete floor a couple times).

The keyboard is PS/2, I have lots of keyboards, but I am low on mice.

I have no quality mice available.

I have plenty, you are welcomed to use them, but i can not guarantee the quality! They do chew on everything in the shop though, seem pretty healthy by the looks and the speed they move through the shop. :)

Touch screen. Qtdragon and a touch screen.
One can get by without keyboard and mouse.

I have no touch screen.

I do have an almost brand-new keyboard though.
(It's at least 10 years old, but was in the original box until I opened it 3 months ago).

There are no touch screen monitors available to me.

I ain't buying one.

The PC was initially dsestined to be recycled.

The CNC machine is located in my high school.

With a keyboard and poor-quality computer mouse, is QTDragon still better?

SIDE NOTE:
Why does pressing Ctrl+HOME launch the "Unhome all axes" dialog in AXIS?

The "Quick reference" pane says Ctrl+HOME is "Home all axes".
