Unfortunately, I never reach the speed set in the .ini file.
The motors move much slower than the set speed and make a lot of noise. If I set the same speed in the drive program, the command executes smoothly and without making any noise.
I'm probably doing something wrong in the configuration.

There are no premade RPi3 images available for download.

You have a couple of options.
1: Someone maybe able to make one, but it would require that person having access to a Rpi3.
2: Find someone with Linux knowledge who can also speak english and is willing to help.
3: Have a go following someone's instructions, all is not lost if you make a mistake.
4: Look into using grbl.

A bit of a warning regarding the RPi3, you may have latency issues, which there may not be a solution for fixing it. Increasing thread period may not give smooth operation.

Saying that you don't understand all the time wont help. I'm sorry I really wish it was different.

Yeah std breakout board, a lot of the generic Chinese one have a 0-10v converter. Mesa also sells something called spinx1 store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=produc...oduct&product_id=205 which could be connected to the 2nd port on the 7i92T.
Glass sensor would require a buffer circuit of sorts I guess, PCW would have the best advice regarding that.

I've been using an original 7i92 for years (the change was to a different FPGA for the T) and had no issues........plus a number of other cards as things grew

This how good the support from Mesa is. Some users have bought clones from AliExpress (I'd recommend the genuine thing) and he's been happy to help those users out. TBH PCW has helped me out when I got bored and tried to build a clone of a 7c81 based on a Spartan6 FPGA dev board. Which does work either via SPI to Raspberry Pi 4/5 or a PC with a parallel port using the EPP protocol.

You may find some forum users very biased towards Mesa, some build machines professionally and only use Mesa, other have converted a mill or a lathe....or many other machines that I have probably missed. But they all swear by Mesa products.
Not that there aren't other options, but it's the best way if you "just wanna make chips".

Just standard linuxcnc settings. You have Velocity and Accelerations settings for every axis in the ini file. Adjust them to your liking.

I'm still working on it. At the moment it is only partially useable. At the moment I am working on ensuring that the contour is implemented correctly. Especially with regard to circular arches. Thread already looks good. The goal is that 100% can be done on the machine. After I have implemented this with the contour, the goal is that a correction is included, depending on which tool is chosen. Means that the cutting geometry is included in the movement depending on which tool is chosen. If possible, the information should come from the Tool.db. In addition, a warning if the chipping with the tool is not possible. I can't say how quickly I can do it, but I'll try until I have a working solution. Anyone who has ever worked on Siemens controllers should certainly get along with the panel, because my experience with the machines certainly shows similarities.

Hi,
thanks for the answer!
To get the 7i92T working I need at least a "standard" lpt breakoutboard, right? That would be for the steppers. What would I need for a 0-10V signal for the spindle? Can I plug in glass "sensor" into it? (I would not really need it, never had any step losses with my other machine).
Well yes you always have to double check what the KI says, but for programming it helps alot
regards Han

Good point Rod, I will do so.

Hi all,I'm experiencing an issue with my EtherCAT drive. When I try to move any axis through LinuxCNC, the motion is noticeably slower compared to using the drive's own software.I've attached two videos for comparison:

• LinuxCNC control
• AutomationSuite control

The motors also seem quite loud in LinuxCNC.Any suggestions or insights would be greatly appreciated.

  Many thanks,
  Lorenzo

I was able to find the manual and some info´about the alarm. Even if there were very few clues in the post

Then you can try or if you have an old lcec version and syncToRefClock isn't recognized: refClockSyncCycles="-1000"

Check the lcec.0.pll-reset-count variable that it stays on single digit. Read at least one full page here github.com/linuxcnc-ethercat/linuxcnc-et...istributed-clocks.md

Good. Has happened before. A total reset after eeprom update is usually a good idea.
I normally upload firmware on the fly, even when connected to linuxcnc. Much less sensitive.

And what does the last lines in "sudo dmesg" say?
It is the drive that is unhappy, but hopefully the ethercat master tells why it won't download data to an SDO.
Or give another clue.

Yes, 67108864 is Encoder count per round.
The problem is "Alarm A12 (EtherCAT Output Syncronization Error) "

A support person said,
"As long as A12 occurs, servo amp can't anser properly."

strange, i unplug everything and replug and itw works in linuxcnc too
very happy about this
i will continue to see what can I achieve
thanks again !!!

I uploaded the github

Stick with Mesa, loads of info, it works without issues, they've been around for ages. Support is fantastic. A 7i92T gives you 2 lpt like interfaces. So 34 io pins, can be expanded via SmartSerial cards to get even more io. Mesa drivers are part of the Linuxcnc source code, so you know they will always be supported.

Oh BTW chatgpt has given so much useless info regarding Linuxcnc it's gone past be a joke to a complete waste of time.

According to the manual section 6, it shows that I need to supply 5-24v DC to that circuit. Can I just use my 24v field power for this?

No, the output can switch 5V to 24V signals but should not be directly connected to a power source for sinking (NPN) operation

The ALM output would wire directly to a 7I96S input as shown in my table.

The drives 5V/24V switch only affects inputs (PUL,DIR,ENA)

Note that the ENA input is actually a  DISABLE input so not really of much use unless you change it's polarity.
(because the drive would be enabled if there is no controller power which is a bit crazy)
This likely requires the use of the (windows) software setup utility for the drive. Similarly, the ALM outputs cannot be
paralled unless re-programmed to be ON for alarm rather than the default OFF for alarm, They could possible be connected
in series instead using the default (OFF for alarm) setting

To use a step/dir pin for ENA, you set the number of stepgens to < 5, freeing up the GPIO pins that connect to say stepgen3 or 4
you then use the GPIO pins in hal to control the output state of these pins.
