Using name="x" is optional in the XML format and without it, it defaults to the slave number (which is great if your drives are the first slaves on the bus as it aligns with joint numbers). but names does free up the order of slaves. If following a template format, deviating from the supplied XML  can require a lot of editing as you are discovering....

Odd, when you click on the forum link it does go to 0:00 but when you open in youtube from the forum page, it goes to the correct location in the video.
Another delightful forum feature.
I might snip it out and make a seperate  video when I have a moment of spare time as its the most used reference.

This:

iopl() failed: Operation not permitted

Must be fixed before proceeding.

You can ping without root privileges but The hm2_eth driver
must block other programs access to the interface and this
requires root privileges.

This is most likely a LinuxCNC install issue or perhaps a BIOS security
setup issue (secure boot etc)

I am still getting pings from the card.
But the delay is sometimes high.

I thing the network driver might be mixed up?
This PC has realtek 8125 Ethernet chip.

How do we check if there is any conflict between the drivers?

This sounds like a LinuxCNC installation issue:

iopl() failed: Operation not permitted

Konstatin,
I don't understand why you don't stick with one configuration and keep trying different ones.
You already had working configurations, but you replaced them with new experiments.
I get the impression that you haven't read the important threads!

Your EtherCAT XML is full of errors again.

What are you trying to achieve with the following lines???
<sdoConfig idx="6098" subIdx="00">
<sdoDataRaw data="22 00"/>
</sdoConfig>
6098 refers to the homing method and is defined in the .ini file
CIA402_HOMING_ENABLED = 1
CIA402_HOMING_METHOD=4
CIA402_HOMING_SEARCH_VELOCITY=300000
CIA402_HOMING_LATCH_VELOCITY=100000
CIA402_HOMING_ACCELERATION=131072

A certain naming convention has been established here in the forum
With such naming conventions, you’ll confuse your fellow forum members and no one will be able to help you anymore.
halPin=“opmode” halType="s32"/>

You have to remember that the names you define in the XML must also be used in the .hal file.

I can only recommend one thing:
Delete all that junk!!!
Use the templates from the A6, and enter your VID and PID correctly.
Stick with this template and post any error messages!

Hello All,
I have an error after trying to set up a 7i76E with a Asus Essential 14 N150 NUC.
Running the latest Debian and installed Linux CNC as instructed by Mr Rod on his youtube video.
All the installation went smoothly, but i am facing this error during my connection to the card.This is my second install, I have previously set up a 7i96S system and is succesfully running.
I am running a 12V smps for the 7i76E board, could that could be a problem.I think I might have missed something here.Please find the error report attached.
Thank you,

Antony.

Hey Hakan,

I appreciate the positive feedback! I have a test user out of Canada who uses PlasmaC and as I'm writing this, I'm working on a full featured LinuxCNC PlasmaC post that will ship with the releases going forward. I should have the new release with that post included by the end of the day today. When you see the auto-update window, do the update and you should have a PlasmaC post ready to test. My shop plasma is not LinuxCNC controlled so I can't test this post in house, I'll have to rely on you or Joel (my other PlasmaC user) for confirmation that the post is correct.

I know you mentioned you're not going to be part of the development but if you change you're mind and would like to do some more testing, You can create an account on the website and I can mark you as "Staff" which gets you access to everything I have in the works (there's a BUNCH of stuff I'm working on) and there's very little commitment on your end. Just occasional testing of features on your time. Joel and Scott (One of my Australian Testers) have been incredible assets in providing new feature ideas and pointing out bugs which I've missed entirely.

Once again, thank you for your positive feedback it's much appreciated. I'd love to get snowgoer540 to give it a look, his post was understandably skeptical but he's just the skeptic I'm looking for....

How did you manage to replace the firmware? Did you replace the sercos-bus modules in the drives or are there analog inputs in the drives already?

In the weekend I had some more time to experiment but there is no success yet. I read the link about absolute homing for A6 servo again and checked all of the example files. Before I missed to copy this line Now, LinuxCNC reports missing pins again but there is a new pin that cannot be found - "lcec.0.0.status-word". This is the first line where error appears and LinuxCNC is terminated. The pins "joint.0.request-cia-homing" and "joint.0.start-cia-homing" are reported not found as well.
I am still confused about the guide for A6 servos, which parts need to be uncommented on the first reference run? By the way, my servo drives does not have a settings for choosing incremental or absolute encoders.
Attached are the configuration files.

This is a great idea.

(I'm not in a position to test it any time soon sorry).

My guess is calling it something like VisualHAL might be more intuitive?

I tried the plasma part a bit. Nesting and placing works very well,
really nice. Also made a quick post processor for PlasmaC.
Pretty rudimentary, remove feeds and Z movements and add a few lines in the header.
I'm not going to be part of the development of this software, just wanted to give a quick
micro-review after spending maybe an hour in it. It's nice, modern look, interactive
and I got going without instructions.
I can see myself using it occasionally, for nesting/placing many parts.

Hello everyone, I'm new here.
I have a problem, I got a machine that has linuxcnc and Probe Basic
I tried to translate myself using QT Designer, but I was only able to do it for a few points. When I started translating more, my Probe Basic stopped running.
Maybe someone can tell me which files need to be translated. Because I even edited the .PY file but my Probe Basic still started in English.

P.S. If there is already a link to a forum or discussion, I would be grateful if you could direct me. Thanks

@RodW,
50 minute video for a 3 minute setup, really?
Here is everything in one place and does not take 50 minutes:
forum.linuxcnc.org/27-driver-boards/3559...ethernet-mesa-boards

If you had of followed the link It would have taken you to the exact spot about 16 minutes in where I discuss the networking in that 50 minutes. Its a very old video now but still current.
