Hello everybody!
I am new to this forum, so first I want to thank everybody for all the information posted here.
I want to replace my old 32-bit computer running a 3-axis stepper cnc via a parallel port.
What I succeeded in:

1. I bought a Raspberry Pi 4 and a Mesa 7i90 card.
2. I used my old computer with parallel port, connected to the 7i90 and programmed the 7i90_spi_svst4_8.bit firmware using mesaflash.
3. I downloaded the LinuxCNC disk image for the RPi 4 and installed it.
4. I connected the 7i90 to the Raspberry Pi (about 3 inch flat-cable, all ground lines connected). I can read the device configuration using mesaflash without problems (well after a new install of mesaflash from the git repository).

Now I want to start ``linuxcnc linuxcnc/configs/by_interface/mesa/hm2-stepper/7i90-rpi-spi.ini``. The GUI pops up and everything seems fine.
But when I press F1 to reset the estop latch nothing happens. Up to now I did not connect any drivers or switches to the 7i90.
I changed 'DEBUG = 0x7fffffff' in the ini-file and added a 'show' to the end of the ini-file. I attach the output when running the linuxcnc. I marked what happend when I pressed F1 by '******' in the text.
If you need more information (ini-file, hal-file) let me know.
Many thanks for any support, H. Hermes

Experienced some jitter as well today while running grandixximo's fork. I doubt there is any synchronization being done while the dc-phased pin is false and all pll-*** pins are 0. Ran sudo dmesg to see what is happening in the background. Maybe someone can notice something clear in the log:

Rod, I literally just did exactly that. It booted and worked perfectly fine, with the caveat that the .sources list for Aptitude is empty, and you need to manually populate it.

Once manually populated, the system was able to be connected to the internet and it worked exactly as you'd expect with regard to installing new packages.

I wanted to bump this thread and inquire if anyone was using the STMBL v5 on their LinuxCNC projects? With native SS support, small size and support for straight rectified 220v I have always felt it was an amazing solution. It is pretty well documented but I'm wondering how challenging it is to tune the drive for the motors once all setup? The instructions seem fairly straightforward but it is hard to know until you try!

Also big thanks to Freak for reviving this project!

Good morning, I bought an xhc-hb04 because mine had fallen and the wheel didn't turn well, but it still works. When the new one arrived, I immediately noticed that it stays on even when the PC is off, which the old one didn't. It's detected because if I remove the LinuxCNC dongle, it gives me an error. The working one has a chrome power button, while the new one has a plastic button. I think it's defective. What do you think?

I am working on updating the control an older Linuxcnc machine.  I need to make some modifications of the old GladeVCP it uses.  Are there any steps or instructions for updating older GladeVCP files (from Linuxcnc 2.7) to current versions of GTK/Glade for Linuxcnc?

aliexpress 7i92 have anyone used this card, how can use,https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005011667901833.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.pcDetailTopMoreOtherSeller.1.7ccfDf5dDf5dYi

cheapen hahaha, aliecpres card cost 40-50 $ and mesa genuine cost ower 100 $ lot different price, hobby users not have money waste ower 100 $ only small card, need be lot lot cheapen can buy hobby cnc card.
and second, why waste lot money buy etc 160$ card if all same can buy aliexpress 40$ lot different price and stupid if waste lot money if not really need.

Hi grandixximo,
Congratulations on a viable solution to this long standing gap in Linuxcnc implementation.
I was going through how you have taken into account the kinematics in userspace for planning which is needed for kinematics bounds checking.
I also see that you have made the relevant changes in the kinematics defined in src/emc/kinematics/* files.
There is another set of switchable kinematics defined in the src/hal/components/*.comp files (method made viable by David Muller / aciera on this forum). For example xyzab_tdr_kins.comp, xyzacb_trsrn.comp etc.,
I somehow find the idea of implementing the kinematics as a loadable .comp module compiled by halcompile very fascinating and useful
Is there a guideline on how to transition those kinematics also to this new setup?

Is there stock available for purchase of the height sensor?

A couple of days ago, I saw 1 in stock, but when attempting to purchase, it said out of stock.

Epoxied electronics sure are hard to extract. I have had some success using a small butane torch or a heat gun to soften the epoxy with heat. Some kinds of epoxy turn rubbery an can be carved out in small bits with a knife while it is hot. But that is messy. It is too easy to burn it up or start a fire. Plus I end up with blisters on my fingers from working with the hot stuff.

Take care and have fun!

but normal need use WHITOUT this expensive hat , only gpio pin out and shift level converter can use 3,3V gpio pin to out 5V and traight to driver step and dir and enable pin.
how this made if ewer newer not has understand anything code nd not understand what need doing code, understand only good all hardware how connect and build,
i have rpi4 and SD card have linuxcnc rpi4 image, working and boot ok, (whit HDMI display) but not boot whit pi hut mikro HDMI to vga cable.
how make this gpio pins can take out gpio pin to driver DM556. were can download setting hal and ini file or what need add to rpi4, normal peoples NOT can understand and write hard code to rpi, hal or ini or what possiple need doing, not know.
i just buy rpi4, paraller port BOB, cheap chinese 10$ board, encoder, rotary SW, shift level converter modules, 3,3V to 5V, all buttons, DM556 drivers, nema 23 470 OZ/3Nm motors, lot hardware but not can made code anything.

help need send to me files what need copy and paste to rpi4 linuxcnc and were folder need add. not know were and what and how.

I have not tried connecting a BOB to a Raspberry pi. I think it could work but it will not be easy. You will have to write the hal and ini files.

How will you connect BOB to the Raspberry pi? The connectors are quite different.

If you could use your BOB connected to a pc that has a parallel port that will be a lot easier. I might be able to help. Then you could use stepconf to create your configuration.

Youtube isn't all bad. As a newly minted but not yet monetized Youtube Partner, I got an email from them today reminding me of the copyright match tool I was now allowed to use. So I turned it on in YT studio and low and behold there was a match where somebody made a video using 90% of my content. A video of my Spaceship Plasma cutting a part (well lots of parts). They had been selling off my video for  four years!

I decided to play nice and asked YT to serve them a 7 day take down notice, instead of an immediate takedown.

Last time I had something similar was a large company using my registered trademark running Google ads for my product! That time I had to pay a specialist IP lawyer to issue a takedown request which cost me quite a few $ and Youtube is doing it for free!.

Hello,

I had a similar issue where I had to skip the grub boot installer step.

I found a solution is to install like normal and skip that step, then launch the usb boot drive live. From there, I had to mount the efi drive partition (/dev/sda1 I think it was). Then I went and renamed the Debian directory in EFI to boot and the grubx64.efi file to bootx64.efi and then everything booted fine.

I was doing this on an old Mac so it could have been a little different.
