I needed to copy a short section of a wood moulding. So I probed the original on my mill table, modelled it in CAD, CNC milled a cutter out of gauge plate, and machined the wood on my milling machine with the horizontal spindle.

when I was in the Timber Industry 20+ years ago a setup for a custom timber molding or matching of an existing well in excess of $200 AUD whether you wanted 1.2m or 1200m. Mind this would have been for a spindle molder.
