Prox sensors have worked well for me. Make sure they are PNP for the 7i76e. You can share the home and limits so that would leave you with soft limits only at the far end (which you never hit)

I could probably use the same nocks on Z and Y but not so sure I can do this on X. Well yes, if I move this arrangement to the front side. Hmmmm have to take a closer look.

I decided to let the old switches have one more go now with 24V. Managed to reroute cables and have inputs 20-28 for the +/-/home.
Will edit HAL and see what happens, hopefully stable with 24V instead of 5V via 7i73.

Looks like all is well now with limit/home switches with 24V directly to 7i76e.

Awesome work. You will have a much m or reliable machine now so the rewiring will be worth it.

Did you have any more progress with your step clipping warning? It is just a warning, so the machine will still operate.
You can observe the joint speeds in the watch window whilst doing rapid moves so you might be able to observe the value its clipped to and reduce your max velocities. to be a bit under what you see on a long move.

Did you set the steps/mm (scaling) correctly?

Is the maximum velocity on the INI fie correct?

Tested X with G0x100 and it looks OK
INI well that is a good question as I do not know what is correct.

The file is included earlier.

How does the encoders come in play now after new firmware?

A1;
That would be handled by the scale parameter in the hm2 driver
www.linuxcnc.org/docs/html/drivers/hostm...html#sec:hm2-encoder

A2:
Yes the encoder inputs on the 7i85 can be used for your spindle encoder.

OK, how is this done (step by step)? Is it not like spindle encoder setting in INI?

A2
Good to know, then I can use the 7i76e with busted inputs.

Yes the axis operates but these warnings are annoying ;)

Observe, how is this done?
