Setup of a MPG for gantry was created by malare
How do you setup a MPG to work in World mode so you can jog a gantry x-axle?
All other axes works fine to jog with the MPG.
Many regards Per Malare

It ought to just work (in World mode). You really don't want to be jogging a gantry in Joint mode.
How have you connected the MPG in HAL?

I can only send you the hal-file so you can look at it. I don't really know myself how things are done.
It's my son who is an expert on these things. He has used a file we found as a template, and made changes in it.
As you can see from the file-name we use a MESA 5i25 card for driving Gecko G540 drivers but the MPG is connected to an extra PCI parallell card.

Perhaps the ini-file is useful too

i will need to experiment with a configuration, which I can't do until this evening.
(I can see a way to do it, but I think it might be the wrong way)

It took longer than I expected to get to this.
I have created a simulator config which I can test with. I can confirm that it won't jog for me in World mode either. (thou in my case I can't jog any axis)
Unfortunately I am out of time for tonight. More tomorrow.

A bit more on this.
www.linuxcnc.org/docs/html/man/man9/gantrykins.9.html
Says that incremental jogging doesn't work in World mode.
I think there is a way round this, using the jogwheel speed as a velocity-jogging request. But I need some time to see what that takes.

Yes, and no. I have had the time. But I forgot. I feel rather guilty now.
I have taken on a big chunk of work on re-coding how LinuxCNC handles tools. I expect to be busy with that for many months now.
Is my idea of using the encoder velocity to control a velocity-mode jog enough of a clue to get you started by yourself?
Look at the halui.jog.N.analog pins here:
