Is possible to connect a cheap cpld like these
www.ebay.com/itm/MAX-II-EPM240-CPLD-Mini...ard-5V-/181441010315
www.ebay.com/itm/1PCS-New-MAXII-EPM570-C...d-JTAG-/271037690097
with serial interface to linuxcnc ?
Α real time serial link with a mesa card ?
These boards are very cheap and have a lot of i/o

You probably could use one of those as I/O expansion
for a Linuxcnc/Machinekit host that has a SPI port
(BeagleBone, CubieBoard, RasPI etc) or a mesa card with SPI firmware but you would need to do driver work (or component work for Mesa)
to get SPI access from HAL
Not as cheap but if you want TTL level GPIO expansion from a Mesa system,
a 7I90 running SSREMOTE firmware works (72 five volt tolerant real time I/O bits, long distance capable RS-422 link)

I want to use a core for UART from web and mesa_uart component.
Anyway this is for experimenting not for a working machine. For a real machine i will get something that works like 7i90.

7i90HD is very nice and cheap but out of stock.. I hope until my next next order from mesa to be stocked again. Not as cheap but if you want TTL level GPIO expansion from a Mesa system,

As a standard SS remote device, the 7I90 runs at 2.5 MBaud. This is not changeable with the current firmware.
