PLC Tool changer Question was created by mmt
I am going to convert an older cnc machining center to Linux. I have built several commercial machines using it already but this will be my first conversion.
I have a 10 station carousel type tool changer and programming the plc is no problem for me. My question is what is the best / easiest way to pass the tool number requested from Linux to the PLC???
This may have been covered but I could not find it.
Thanks
Kent

Hi
Have a look at iocontrol
www.linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/man/man1/iocontrol.1.html
It outputs that a toolchange is required and the requested tool
regards
