Multi-channel control ($1 $2) possibilities

I may get to pick up a small turning center (swiss lathe) for next to scrap price. It has an older 300 series Mitsubishi control which is an OK control but some of the boards are going and might work on converting this for fun if I get it.

If it possible to setup LinuxCNC to run multi-channel programs with wait commands and such? I know I can use a 1 channel program and call sub-programs and use macros, but is undesirable.

Hi

I take it you mean something like the twin turret systems, Cambridge Numerical Control for instance.

I don't think there is any way to do that, there is one linear interpreter in Linuxcnc, (well 2 if you count the plotter) you would need 2 motion interpreters and a way for them to interact to achieve that.

Whilst you say that subs on a 1 channel program are undesirable, they present a simple way to achieve the same functionality, without having to synchronise channels.

regards
