Hi!

Does anybody know if there is an easy way to configure Z to be distributed to two servomotors with a specified ratio, lets say 30% of movement to 1st servo and 70% of movement to second servo to achieve a telescopic movement.
This is for a portal milling machine, to be able to maximize Z movement with limited roof height.
Appreciate any input on this subject!

I suspect that there might be an easy way and an optimal way.

The easy way (assuming servos)
scale axis.2.motor-position-command by 0.7
pass the result to pid.2.command
subtract the result from axis.2.moto-position-command and pass the result to pid.3.command.

Sum the two feedbacks and pass to axis.2.motor-position-fb

The problem with the easy way is that it is not clear that homing will work.

Setting up the extra axis as a W and driving that explicilty in G-code might turn out to be a better solution.

One trick just hit my mind..

If two axis motors are connected in Z axis with pitch set as double the actual pitch..both motor will operate simultaneously half distance in each one of the telescopic axes.

Hope this will be successful.
