Going to the start position

I'm using a 7i80HD-25, with a 7i47s.

I have 4 minas S from panasonic, with have only the index pulse (because of the old retroffiting, they only use for homing) available. In my configuration everything works fine, except by the index.

When I run the home sequency with the USE_INDEX, the machine trips in to the home switch, finds the first index pulse (I've verified using hal meter) and then go to the, what I call, "startup position". The machine adds the distance between the home (where she found the home switch) and the place where the machine was localized on startup and then travels to the startup position and then she sets this as home.

My question is, this problem could been occuring because I'm not using the feedback from encoder on my hal?

There's any possibility of using only the index from my encoder just for homming and not having this problem? I have already build a machine with close loop, but was with encoder pulses, and the home worked fine, whenever I shutdown the machine, she never sets the initial point as home, like is happening now.

Sorry for my bad english, and thanks in advance.

Index only works with encoder feedback, is this a step/dir system?
(there is FPGA hardware to support index on step/dir systems but it is not currently supported in the hm2 driver)

Yes, I'm using a step/dir with this panasonic drivers.

I didn't tested the system with home, but I have already tested wit stepper motor drivers, and they seams to work fine with hm2.

Could be this the problem? If I complement my encoder signal (with A and B ) should work fine?

My other possibility is to use the classicladder to do some logic with this and assume only the home switch on hal but that's not what I want, seem a bit trick do this.

Homing to index currently only works if the systems position
feedback comes from an encoder

This means you need to setup the system with a stepgen in velocity mode
and use an encoder for position feedback
