Dear
I got some problems with the configuration from my milling machine.
I got a gantry milling machine with 2 motors on the X axis.
Little overview of my hardware:
I use the MESA 7i76E card and 5 stepper drives for controlling the motors.
My connections are made in the following order: XX Y Z.
I got also 2 homing switches on both sides of the X as.
I updated LinuxCNC from version 2.7 to 2.8. And I found already the hal and ini file from Rod.
Everything looks the same... but it doesn't work... I add my ini and hal file to this topic, and add also the files from Rod as reference.
There are strang things, when i push the Page-Up-Down button on the keyboard the Y axis is moving and not the Z axis??
I can't move the X axis then i got the error "the axis is are not homed".
Is it possible to help me with finding the bug in my configuration?
Thanks!

For a start I think you need KINEMATICS = trivkins coordinates=XXYZ
I would also make the Z HOME_SEQUENCE = 0 and the Y HOME_SEQUENCE = 2
So that the Z will home first.

I think this is already done?
[KINS]
JOINTS = 4
KINEMATICS = trivkins coordinates=XXYZ

Which axis moves on the screen? Which axis moves on the machine? Could it be a wiring error (in HAL or physical)

You have to home the machine before moving it.
It does move without homing but:
-If the DRO numbers are beyond the soft limits it will not move that axis,
-It is normal to move the Y axis with the pgup/pgdown buttons as that is the third joint
-You are in JOINT mode when starting, so you have to change to World mode to get the usual controls
-It will automatically go to World mode after homing

With V 2.8, nothing can work until its homed. So confirming what Tommy says, press the home all button and see how it goes.
Homing is quite different between 2.7 and 2.8

Your INI file does not contain HOME_SEARCH_VELOCITY and HOME_LATCH_VELOCITY for each axis.

The machine is moving and homed.
What is the best method for square the machine?
Thanks.

The HAL configuration looks right for the config you describe.
So perhaps some physical wires are crossed somewhere?
It might also be that the Y home switch is wired to the Z input too. (unless they share a pin)
