7i85 vs 7i85s usefulness. was created by Peter
Hi Everyone, I've got a 6i25 with a 7i76 breakout driving stepper motors and now want to add feedback from scales.
I also have the 7i73 Pendant interface, so the 422 port on the 7i76 is used,
my question is what does everyone think is more useful rs 422 ports or 8 differential outputs?
the encoder inputs are all I currently need, so this would just be forward thinking.
also I have seen a couple posts about this config has anyone got a nudge in the right direction?

Replied by PCW on topic 7i85 vs 7i85s usefulness.
It depends on whether you think you may need more general I/O expansion via sserial (7I85) or additional step/dir outputs (7I85S)
Note that the 7I85S does add 1 RS-422 port (the 7I85 adds 5)
