I am trying to locate some examples or more documentation on setting up a random swing arm style tool changer. Trying to understand how linuxcnc tracks the tools vs pockets? Anyone happen to have a machine config they don't mind sharing?

you can use a random comp its in the config area
where you can set/order to use the arm taking the next free pocket available
BUT in most cases it will be the same as the tool comes from
or are you like okuma placing a chain behind mashines and connect a master tool libary wher multiple mashines can go on the chain and collect
hobbymashines dont usaly chaire tools with other mashines
and non pocketing tools are insert at manual tool change position and given back to Hand

It stores which tool is in which pocket in the tool table and saves the tool table on shut down.
just set RANDOM_TOOLCHANGER in the INI file and the old tool will automatically be put in the pocket that the new tool came out of.
