Not clear, 2 motors acting as one, meaning geared/puleyed to the SAME ballscrew ?
That will work, but fuzzy on the details, still, as to why ?

Linuxcnc can work with some linear encoders, it can also use two feedback devices, meaning you can have an encoder on the motor and a linear scale for the same axis.
8i20 is a single 3 phase motor drive, so it can drive a single motor.
Maybe, just maybe it would work with two parallel motors of the SAME type and with one single encoder feeding back to linuxcnc, motors would have to be coupled together via pulley or gears at strictly 1:1 ratio, but i never tried this so it is uncertain.
You can test with a single motor and check if it has enough power/torque, or use reduction to gain some torque as it would have enough speed even at 1:10 gearing.
