Spindle driven by a servo motor, how to configure? was created by atlantis
My bed mill has the spindle driven by a dc brush servo motor, this is because the spindle motor is also used to rotate the tool magazine in case of a tool change.
As the servo drive accepts step/dir commands only, similar to a stepper drive, I can't use the spindle interface of the 7i76e mesa card but will have to use a encoder output and configure the spindle as Axis_A and Joint_3 as TYPE = ANGULAR. However, as I don't find any example, I don't know what exact parameters I need to configure for this special case and how to make linuxcnc recognize it as the spindle. Has anyone done it?

hi
there are multiple ways to do it
depending on your controller system
look here -> www.talla83.de/linuxcncspindel.html

Excellent, I had seen other videos by talla83 before but didn't know he had done these examples too, thanks!
