Yes. It just means that the first axis to hit the switch will latch slowly towards the second axis.

Ok, this .ini file works. I don't understand.
Joint 1 is HOME_LATCH_VEL = -0.625 and Joint 4 is HOME_LATCH_VEL = 0.625

The distance between joint 1 trigger and joint 4 trigger is less than .5mm. I manually stepped want watch each trigger activate.
Negative on each? (I assume)

That doesn't really make sense.
Is there any chance that the two sides of the gantry have their home switches crossed?

Its is my error.
I have two .hal files for the limit switches. One for using a single limit switch on joint 1 and one for testing limit switches on Joint 1 and Joint 4. I did not use the correct file.
My mistake. Sorry about that.

Whenever I've seen the gantry rack on homing, its ALWAYS been due to a wiring error like this.

Yup it was not the wiring, it was the guy (me) who check the pin assignment 3 times and got it wrong three times.
After being reassured by everyone here multiple times the config was ok I knew it was something I was missing.
I am happy to have it working as expected and appreciate the assistance.
