OK so a 7I96 (Xilinx) works as expected:
This first plot shows both oneshots being triggered by a 50 Hz square wave
fed into the 7I96's encoder A/B pins. The GPIO bits are the unfiltered equivalents.
oneshot 1 is set for 5 ms and oneshot2 is set for 10 ms. filter is 100usec:
This plot shows the same arrangement except the trigger is a 150 usec pulse
so not reliably displayable by halscope (but the oneshots are triggered)::
Do you want me to try building a 7I92 oneshot test bitfile?

yes, please. I would like to test your file.
here is my pin configuration:

OK this works for me:
This test uses oneshot channel 2 as a 50 Hz 1 ms pulse generator,
triggering oneshot channe1 (set for 3 ms) via the external trigger input.
(loopback from pin 12 to pin 16 on the 7I92 DB25)

Well I guess I give up on this...
It works for me on three different hardware setups: 7I96S, 7I96, 7I92
(and even different FPGA families)
Only thing I can think is you are not running the firmware I sent or you
have a bad 7I92 with a FPGA issue (which is not something I have ever seen before)
or there is some other hardware specific issue with your setup.

I use your firmware.
Today I tested with a 5i25 and an other, older 7i76. It works perfectly with it.
Then I tested it again with the 7i92. For this I created a minimal setup. All disturbing devices (servo-drives, vfd...) were switched off. But with the 7i92 it does not work properly. I also give it up.

Sorry for the rant and sorry for the issue. I think its fixed...
My tests ran perfectly because I was using perfect signals...
As soon as I introduced some noise, I could duplicate your issue.
The issue was a metastable on the external input sampling

hi all,
would I need a special bit-file to set up a 6-axis-robot like the vismach/puma560 using RC-servos (rcpwmgen) and the mesa 7i76e together with the 7i85s (9x stegens and 5x encoder inputs in total)?
How can I create such a bit-file by myself? What would be a good starting point?
If I don't need one, how can I connect the three leads from the servos?
Cheers.
Martin.
