Halcompile problem. Linuxcnc 2.9.2 on debian 11

Hi. 
After upgrading to 2.9.2 from 2.8.4, I had to upgrade to debian 11 as well because I had issues with my custom gladevcp panel. 

Now trying to compile two of my comps which worked well on debian 10 and 2.8.4 I found that halcompile doesn't show any messages after running sudo halcompile --install compfile.comp. 

absolutely nothing. Even after creating a deliberate syntax error. Still nothing.

any hints?
Where else can I see the compiler messages?

try; sudo apt install linuxcnc-uspace-dev

tried that now. Feedback from terminal is linuxcnc-uspace-dev is already the latest version

 

Please ignore. If you get the command right, it works as expected. Forgot the --install ...
