Glad you figured it out.
Now add some HOME_OFFSET to all joints so they back off of the switches when they finish homing sequence, usually 2-3mm are enough. And also set the HOME_FINAL_VELOCITY to something reasonable as by default they run at full machine speed for those 2-3mm, on fast machines that is terrifying!
Keep the HOME_ velocities low till you get all joints homing properly, joints move toward the switch, then back off, then again towards the switch and finally those 2-3mm and stop.

Yea... I'm kind of struggling to wrap my head around the home, softlimit, offset, limit switch envelope... It seems like everything i try might actually be wrong. I'm either traveling the wrong direction, or, triggering hard limits, or soft limits, or the displayed location isn't where the actual toolhead is.

This is as close as i've gottent to getting it to home to where i want it... the problem however, is it keeps throwing an error :
Thank you for helping
Here's the current INI:Exceeded NEGATIVE soft limit (0.000000) on joint 2
Hint: switch to joint mode to jog off soft limit
Thank you for helping

Got it.. Homeing without errors, coordinate system looks correct orientation, pull off is good.
I'm happy.... now... to get all the relays and stuff going to coolant, and toolheight

Everything about gantry machines is covered in the chapter titled homing configuration.
The key is to read it at least 8 times. Then one or two more times for good luck!
Limit switches should be outside of the normal operation envelope and should never be hit unless its an Oh Sh#t moment that causes the machine to go out of bounds
Shared home/limit switches require a home_offset to move the axis off the home switch so it does not trigger the limit switch as you come out of homing.
