Having trouble with the old lady.

After an engraving when she was homing, the z aches started humming and I got an Joint following error.
Did the a full restart, can power her up z is humming, but as soon as I try to move Z the following error kicks in.
My first Ideas was that the brake release is defective, but I checked that. The brake releases just fine and Z is free to move.
I didn't change the PID. I can rule out the encoder (this looks different, then the machine is runnings slowly to an endstop (happens on x some times usually a wiggle on the cable at the drives helps))
With the Z Axis trouble sooting is a bit tricky.
To rule out the Z out / in on the Mesa board I can go to a different analog out and encoder in (X and Y are fine). Which would be my first step now cause it's easy, but I doubt that's the reason though it
Has anyone here a suggestion where to start?

Thanks Patrick

To rule the Mesa board out I could use

any update?
I would try swapping axis at simodrive
if you touch Z axis motor with your hand do you feel it vibrating? does it get warm when not moving only holding its weight?
I had to change my Y axis motor because it was getting hot, turns out when opening it, it was rusty inside
My Z axis motor is vibrating, you can't see a movement in DRO in linuxcnc even a micron but you can feel it

no progress here,
It's not the mesa board, I checked that.
I can see the Encoders jumping, and see the Servo oscillating.
But it won't move more than +-0.05mm

I removed the belt an supported the the Axis so I can play a bit around.
Without the weight of the z axis it doesn't even oscillate.
The encoder works fine, With the drive disabled and the brake released the servo ban be turned easily by hand. I should have a drive for a 4th axis at least its written on the simudrive. I think it's time to search the drive documentation and check if its the servo or the drive. If its the drive and I can use the 4th axis drive a I am fine.
If it's the servo I'll search for a new china servo with drive.

Maybe the servo has lost a phase? (or the drive has)

You can check the servo with an ohm-meter (with it disconnected from the drive). It could be a loose phase wire somewhere, too.

I swapped connection between two servos. And it looks like it's the drive. Didn't get the 4th axis drive to work but this might be my lack of knowledge.
So trying to fix the drive or swap servo and drive for the Z Axis.

On my lathe I have good results with the lichuan 220 V servos.
The new spindle motor for the picomax is a lunyee using 400V.

I am thinking about swapping for the lunyee drive an servo, If I am happy with the spindle.

The only question is where the heck to place the new drive:

File Attachment:

Its quite crowded in there with the Simudive being such a big chunk. Only space would be by the brake resistor. Swapping all three servos would bring space gut is costly.
I need cheaper hobbies...

Hello Anfänger I neeeeeed your help

I have the same machine as you Chiron Fz16 and the only difference is that mine does not have a fourth axis, but the X axis is 4 meters
on which there is a linear encoder with a signal converter + 2 spindles.
I removed one so there remains one spindle with 6 atc-s its practically implies the same scenario as on your machine.

1. I need exact models mesa cards,terminals,cables---links to buy
2. If you have some I/O schematic for connecting ATC, SPINDLE, ANALOG SIMO DRIVERS+ENCODERS, LIMIT SWITCHES... to MESA
4. Configuration files for linuxcnc/hall and ATC Screen files

Thanks in advance

HI,

I used:

1. Mesa 7I92H Anything I/O Ethernet card.
2. Mesa 7I77 Analog servo interface plus I/O daughtercard
3. Mesa 7I74 Eight Channel RS-422/485 interface/ RJ45 Breakout.
4. Mesa 7I71 Isolated remote power driver card.
5. Mesa 7I70 Isolated remote digital input card.

You can combine 1 and 2 today with a 9i97 today.

The rest are some SubD and Other breakout boards.
BUT you have another machine, mine was a Sinumerik / Simudrive machine. You have Heidenhain Control, so I guess you also have different drivers. This is why my schematics won't help you.
I have most covered here in the thread. But I also have some more details in ma blog:
barn.works/2019/linuxcnc-retrofit-von-igor-teil-1/
But some things are outdated and I wouldn't do it the same way again.
Actually I will rewire Limit switches, E-stop and so on. Cause I am forced to start swapping the servo drives.

No!!
Complete equipment is Siemens:
dc motor, driver, reg. and dead control---sinumeric system 3
only the linear scale is Hidenhain.

Ok, mistake from my side, I can share my data if yo give a mail address.
BUT I mine has a sinumerik 810 with simudrive 610 three phase 400V Servo and spindle.

But I would do a lot more rewiring today than in the past.
And not everything was wired as in the schematics. Took me quite a while to figure it out. And of course documented it baldy :D
