You need to add software as root, so if not root:

sudo apt-get install network-manager network-manager-gnome
sudo apt-get remove wicd wicd-gtk

That's likely OK, If not just

sudo apt-get install network-manager

nm-connection-editor should work now

You should continue and delete wicd

so nm-connection-editor does not run?
If not, might be a path issue on debian

what does

OK it must be part of network-manager-gnome, maybe the Debian LinuxCNC distribution has another frontend

Is there no network icon on the default desktop?

sudo apt-get update
before trying to install anything.
Give it a try, then try installing nm stuff.

Ok so I started to remember than when I installed linux the first time I got an error about debian archive mirror. I got a different drive and was doing a fresh install and sure enough that error came up again. I could choose a different mirror from a list but didnt know what to choose and so I went back and this is the screen that I am currently at. Any idea what I should choose and try to do next?
