Not sure as it was a long time ago, but i am pretty sure you can have everything working with just:
7i92TM plugged directly to 7i77 and a 7i84 connected with a cut in half LAN cable.
That is 64 inputs and 32 outputs, should be more than enough.
I did it the way i did as i am a control freak and like to have everything at a glance so 7i70 and 7i71 having LED for each IN/OUT helps with that. And if you look at my retrofits, all have every IN/OUT on screen ... yeah freak! :)

Is in the works of finishing the electrical drawings of the BMC30 update.

But i would want to preserve some of the safety features.

In the current configuration a lot of the outputs are fed 24V through a relay and I would like to still have it like this.
But reading the manuals for the 7i77 and 7i71 the cards should not be provided VFIELD through a relay.

What is the danger to add a relay in the VFIELD is it the risk of contact bouncing when enabled or that the power could switch rapidly?
Would it be acceptable to provide power through a safety relay that needs to be reset to be enabled again? (Then rapid on/off switching will not be that rapid)

Update:
Solved it by having the actuators over the same ground which a relay switches instead.

Question, do anybody know the gear ratio between the screws and servos on a machine with Siemens servos?
The servos are 1ft5 Servos and the pitch of the screws seems to be 12 mm what i could measure with calipers.

Hello I have come as far in my retrofitting that it is time to begin with the control tuning.

I have begun to tune x and y axis but the x axis have some vibrations in it and this I could not really tune away.
So i began trouble shooting a little bit and pulled out the motor cable from the cable chain within the machine to just see if it could be a emc issue, witch seems to help, since i have changed out this cable. The cable shield is connected to the housing of the motor itself in the connector (M26).

The cable I used was an igus chainflex cf896.4.15.04 with approx. 60% shield coverage, is it safe to think that this was not enough?

The motor cable and encoder cables are routed in the same channel all the way from the cabinet.

What would be suitable shielding if i need to change the cable again?

Do you have the original cables?
Find something similar to those.

When you say it like that it seems perfectly logical image missing /media/kunena/emoticons/smile.png,
Still have the old cables for the two other axes so would need to have a look at them, thought I could find any useful information in the old drawings but came up blank.

Could the issue be bad connection to ground?
I did not check the resistance but pinged it direct to the chassis with a DMM and got connection, but did not look for how large resistance i have.
