Thanks, @Surmetall. I took a closer look at your solution and it looks very clean. The main issue on my side is that it appears MAHO did not use the same motor construction as Deckel.

I’ve been trying to find maintenance or service manuals to see whether the front bearing housing of the original motors could be reused, but so far I haven’t had any luck.

Another complication is the very limited space available for the Z-axis, which makes motor placement quite challenging. I’m planning to make a short video soon to better illustrate the space constraints and the problem I’m running into.

The reason I suggest at least 20% extra terminals, is that you will certainly add a pendant, and most likely a 4th axis, but once you lay out your cabinet, it will be full (they always are) so no expension built in means a PITA to add expansion later. Ask me how I know :)
Cheers,
Mark.

I started working on the layout of the new control cabinet using plain old cardboard, which actually works surprisingly well.

Given the space constraints, I currently think it makes sense to place the components related to the three axes on one of the side walls, and put the remaining components on the back wall. I’m not done with the puzzle yet, but it’s starting to come together.

I’d be interested in any feedback or suggestions you might have.

I finally put together a short YouTube video to introduce the project
(even though I’ve already been working on it for about a year ).

I’ll add more videos in the near future.
