This is the readout I get when I input the command in terminal

linuxcnc@linuxcnc-desktop:~$ dmesg I grep port
Usage: dmesg [-c] [-n level] [-r] [-s bufsize]
linuxcnc@linuxcnc-desktop:~$

I will attempt to access the linux BIOs and see if it is disabled there, thank you very much for the help thus far!

It's not an "l" it's a bar "|" used as the "pipe" symbol in the command line.

As Andy says, its a pipe bar not a capital 'i' (next to the left shift key on a UK keyboard anyway)

Still don't know what your computer is?

I am guessing older rather than newer because it has an AGP port and 66MHz bus

There are a few that have come up in the past which have proved very difficult to get the parport to work under Linux
