How to configure Z-axis? was created by Hodor
Hi guys
It's me again=)
I can now Home my machine on all axes and can jog them manually.
My home-switche for the Z-axis is placed on the topmost position.
When I click on X+, it moves away from it's home
When I click on Y+, it moves away from it's home
When I click on Z+, it moves up
All this movements are identical to the animation on screen.
I now have the problem, that when I want to start my first file (the LinuxCNC-Text), it says "Program exceeds machine maximum on axis Z".
My question is: HOW do i have to configure my Z-axis?
I now have Table travel configured as -100 to 0
Is that correct?
Best regards

Hi
On the info you have given, your ini file should contain MAX_LIMIT = 0 and MIN_LIMIT = -100 for Z axis
At a guess, you have not touched off, so your G54 co-ordinates are the same as the G53 (machine co-ordinates)
Move the tool down to the work-piece surface and touch off Z to 0
Then when the program contains a positive Z move, as in a retraction to say Z2 moving between the letters, it will not error.
