Driver Timing Settings - Need Help was created by kb9jlo
I have an ancient CNC controller. It's been waiting a long, long time to be hooked up and working at something. I'm building a MyDIYCNC type of machine. I'm using NEMA 23 stepper motors, unipolar and the controller is a CW Technology that uses Allegro UCN5804B driver chips.
I've attached a piece of the data sheet, showing the timing diagram. What all information do I need to input into LinuxCNC?
Can someone help please?
I tried comparing the timing diagram to the L297 diagram but I just couldn't figure it out...
If it's not too much trouble I'd like to know how to translate this data to get the information you need.
Thanks

I would start with something in the order of
step time 30000
step space 100000
direction hold 4000
direction setup 4000
that should at least get you in the ball park ,

Thank you very much. I was working on setting up my LinuxCNC machine last night. I'm anxious to try out the PC side of things and my X axis is nearly done and I'm hoping to see it move...
I may actually build a working CNC this time.
