broken pipe error in stepconf was created by punitor1
I am getting the "broken pipe" error in stepconf when I try to test run the axes. I have seen several people reference a troubleshooting manual, or else running the commands in the terminal to get more helpful error messages. I haven't been able to find either of these things; can someone point me in the right direction please?

First of all, try rebooting the PC. The realtime system kernel modules can occasionally get in a tangle where they can't quit exit bit can't quite load either.

open a terminal (applications / accessories / terminal )
and type stepconf <return>
if it errors again, this will show the true error.
After getting the error, as Andy pointed out it sometimes needs to be reset.
in the terminal try halrun -U <return>
that's a capital U
What version of linuxcnc are you using?
