For anyone using the development version (master) of linuxcnc I just pushed changes to stepconf for XYUV foam machines.
I don't have an actual machine to test with but if seems to work in simulation.
If anyone tries it please let me know of success or failures

I've run into a bit of a problem with this.

It works well until I hit the "test this axis" button on U or V.

/usr/bin/stepconf doesn't have a 'u' or 'v' to find the axis number.

I installed the 2.6 Debian ISO, then followed the instruction on buildbot.linuxcnc.org to update to master.
Had it working with hand edited files and the original ISO, but wanted to try your stepconf.

Thanks for the effort.

Still has an 'u' axis related error from data not being set correctly.

stepconf:1257 'scale': self.d[axis + "scale"] -> error: expecting number, not Notype ...

The hal file doesn't seem to work, but let me verify that when I get a chance.

I can't match the line number you quoted to the text you showed.
Will try to investigate more...

Sorry, I was using the line number as it shows in the src tree here :

Hopefully I'll get to it this weekend. Thanks again.

Chris how can I enable Foam configs in the latest LinuxCNC? I have been using it for a couple of years with a 3 axis machine but I am not familiar with how to get the development version and enable that.

Thanks
Jeff

This is an old thread, the foam configs are now part of a standard linuxCNC installation. (since version 2.6)

You can see a demo by selecting sim/axis/axis-foam from the config chooser.
