Rapids vs. StepConfig. setting was created by Cayenne
Hi All, I have a 3 axis Taig micromill and the Z axis is set to a lower speed than the X, & Y axis as one would expect due to gravity. But Rapids due not obey this Z speed and it causes it to lose steps. The rapids seem to run at the X,Y speeds which is too fast for the Z. I don't want to limit the rapids to the Z speed as this would slow down operations with many rapid moves. What is the Step Config. wizard for? Why am I choosing a max speed for each axis? I understand that cut speeds are synced and coordinated based on time. Did I miss something obvious when I RTFM? Thanks for Your time and consideration. Cayenne

You can choose individual axis speeds just for the reason you have mentioned.
linuxcnc should not move faster then the lowest max velocity of the currently moving axes.
Can you post your config files? what version of linuxcnc are you using? did you make the config with stepconf?

Mine will during rapid moves, it runs the Z at the X&Y max despite the Z being 20 ipm< X&Y. I will post My setting when I get home.
Thanks, Cayenne
