Sorry to make a problem my first post.

Setting up a new gantry router, running the Configuration Wizard (this is my first foray into CNC)
When I get to 'test axis' for the X axis, I get an error (Lots of text - I believe the following is most pertinent)

File "/usr/lib/pymodules/python2.7/stepconf/Page.py
line 518 in on_xaxistest_clicked
def on_xaxistest_clicked (self, *args)
.........
File "/usr/bin/stepconf", line 1185 in test_axis
'scale': selfid[axis, "scale"],
TypeError: %dformat: a number is required, not NoneType.

Brand new installation, 2.6.9, downloaded a couple of days ago, CD burned, installed this AM with no issues.
Both the Y and Z axis tests give errors, different, but, I'd like to deal with this one first.

Please forgive me if this is not the correct place to post this.

Any help would be greatly appreciated !

Thanks,
Jim.

It sounds like there is no entry in the "scale" box.
Have you configure the steps-per rev, screw pitch etc in the config tab with the axis test button on it?

(I would have expected a more obvious and instructive error message in that case, though)

andypugh,

Thank you for the reply.
Yes, something (number) in every entry box. I even did a new config from scratch in case I had an errant space or other non visible character.
Longer network cable due today, then I can post a screen shot.

Thanks,
Jim.

Found it (Doh)

I had the Y direction pin defined twice, and no X direction pin. So, trying to test the X asis without any direction pin definition.

A nut behind the wrench problem.

Thanks !
