Parallel port not working

Parallel port not working was created by ax650
I've went from 10.04 Lucid to wheezy and linuxcnc 2.7.7. Now my parallel port is not working. I'm using a Sherline cnc mill with Sherline controller. I have checked the bios menu the parallel port is enabled, base i/o address is 378,mode is 378 and interrupt is irq7. Are these the correct setting if not what are the correct settings. I have tried searching but cat seem to find the answer.
Thanks

What did you change? Was this just an update of LinuxCNC on the same OS, or did you reinstall everything from scratch?

Are you using the motherboards built in parallel port, or an add on card?
Are you using your old config files copied over from old to new?
What version of Linuxcnc were you running before when it was all working?

Do you still have the old config files? They should be a good starting point.

All that is really likely to be wrong is the base address of the parallel port.
The first thing to try is just "0" and let Linux try to find the first parallel port for you.

No, in the HAL file when it has "loadrt hal_parport" make the address 0. (or, use 0 as the address in Stepconf, if you are using stepconf)
