Motors don't move during test.

I am trying to control 3 motors with Leadshine DM556 Stepper Drivers and a Mesa 7i76 breakout board through a parallel port connection.

This setup was working prior to an architecture migration attempt which fubar'd the operating system.
Now with a fresh boot of Linuxcnc, I am trying to figure out the original stepconf which was lost.

Having reviewed the documentation of the 7i76 and the current configuration of the circuitry, I thought I had the pin settings correct in the Stepconf. So far I have been unsuccessful in controlling any motors during testing.

Anyone got any suggestions? Thanks!

PS
I have the 3 stepper drivers connected to pins 8-11 14-17 and 20-23 TB2 of the attachment.

Are you sure that this used to work?

The 7i76 connects to a 5i25 PCI card (or similar), not to a parallel port.

(I am not sure that it can't at least partially work with a parallel port, but this isn't its intended use)

Replied by PCW on topic Motors don't move during test.
Also, stepconf will not make a working configuration for a 5I25/7I76 card set (pncconf will)

With pncconf, I was able to move the spindle motor. Thanks!
Im currently working out the configurations for the other motors.

I'll post my current problems on this in detail in the appropriate category.

So you thought you had a parallel port and actually had a 5i25? How long has this system been in abeyance?

In any case, just ask away, we will try to help.

I suppose so. I've had to make a few assumptions.

The 7176 is connected to a Tormach Machine Controller Tower, with a DB25 cable.
Since Im just an intern there, Im very hesitant to crack it open to see whats on the other end in case I break something.

Edit: The system has been out of order for about a week.

OK, that does explain things. Yes, Tormach use the 5i25 PCI card.

Is it a Tormach system? A fresh Tormach installation would be expected to just work, in that case.

The little tower says Tormach, but im not sure how much of the system is left from the fresh install.
The motors were running with Linuxcnc on the Tormach a couple weeks ago.
