Newly installed 10.04.1 w/ EMC2 on an Asus AMD 64 computer. Used Configuration wizard - Stepper Mill Machine Configuration for x, y, and z axis and they all produced the same error when I ran the test and clicked on any option/setting, e.g.-,

"Stepconf encountered an error. The following information may be useful in troubleshooting:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/stepconf", line 1911, in on_jogplus_pressed
self.update_axis_params()
File "/usr/bin/stepconf", line 1900, in update_axis_params
halrun.flush()
IOError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe"

Any suggestions/recommendations on how to fix this problem?

Thks,
Bob

This usually means HAL was already running or there was an error with HAL.
Try running from a terminal. open a terminal and type stepconf.
There will probably be more info in the terminal when the error appears.
Let us know what it says.

Running stepconfig by itself corrected the error.

Thanks,

Hello,

Any additional information regarding this error?

Stepconf encountered an error. The following information may be useful in troubleshooting:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/usr/bin/stepconf", line 1914, in update_axis_params
halrun.flush()
IOError: [Errno 32] Broken pipe

I've ran through the step configuration wizard and have it set up according to the instructions. Any ideas how to correct this error?

Let me know if you need additional information.

thanks-KM
