In general Nvidia graphic cards ruin latency.
AMD is better at it.
Matrox was the best but they do not exist anymore.

Thanks for the info. I'll do some checking around and see what I can come up with. So the hdmi to vga adapter shouldn't cause any problems with the latency?

Nope, the VGA adapter has nothing to do with latency, but makes for a cr@ppy picture ! :)

Do any of the boards have onboard video?

I'm back. Yes the Asus M3N-HT Deluxe has on board video. The Lenovo P520 does not. I did some experimenting with the bios on the Lenovo. Tommy suggested to disable everything possible. So O took a jab at it. I couldn't believe all the things that were in the bios that could be disabled. It's better, I tried two different cards a MSI GeForce GT 1030 2G LP OC and an old dinosaur that I believe came out of a Dell PC. First picture is the MSI latency and the second is the dinosaur latency. There still needs to be some tweaks made. The Max Jitter seems to spike over 100,000 after running for more than an hour or so. It also seems to spike when shutting down the computer. Not sure if any of this matters. The older card seems to be a little less stable, even though it had a little better test.

We have a few more older PCs in the scrap bin at work. I'll do some more experimenting. Do you guys think the Lenovo or Asus work well with a Mesa setup? I was just try to do a budget build. If the mesa cards are still available I'm willing to get one if needed.

What I meant was, have you tried using the machine with onboard video with the onboard video and no graphics card?
You could also try the RTAI kernel, that generally gives better latency.

Andypugh, yes I test the Asus with the onboard video. There was no card installed.
On the Lenovo I'll try to install the RTAI kernel. But I think I'm going to have to reinstall Debian Buster. Because I believe that I gave it a root password. If I'm reading and understanding correctly, I shouldn't have done that. Give me a little time. I'm learning as I go and work 12 hours a day.
I greatly appreciate everyone help, knowledge, and patience.
