The issue with most of those all in one boards is how connect to the STM from the SOC. Most of them use only UART connections, and do not breakout, or make available the useable SPI pins. The way mellow does their pin layouts, they use the SPI channels for other things that we would need for remora, most of their boards were not really useable for the way we do remora. The BTT Manta works similar, but has the RPI header and STM spi pins broken out, which would make it useable by using jumper wires.

The Mellow SBC looked nice because it has dedicated SPI connector on board.
Makerbase also has an allwinner SBC out also

Bari, any thoughts on the CB1? looks like some of the issues were fixed, but their image is still early stages.

> but not much room left for back plots, still OK.

I have a solution for this, but I need some help from the allwinner crowd. I have already started porting the backplot from TKlinuxcnc, which is done purely in Tk canvas widget, to become an axis low quality preview tab. (if anyone knows how I can just pack the TCL file tkbackplot, into axis with out any work that would be cool)
I was hoping someone with an allwinner sbc could run the Tklinuxcnc GUI and tell me if the backplot actually loads or not. I seemed fine on the beaglebone last time I checked, but if someone could let me know, I will continue.

We are looking into the H616 source. We would build a tailored u-boot for best latency and no speed stepping, etc etc. Will update when we have more info.

Please post some high res close up pics of both sides of the boards that you currently have if possible. Maybe the SPI jumpers or other mods will be easy, lets investigate.

Thank you in advance!

If the IO boards with the STM32's stay available I can spin a H616 or similar board with 2GB or more of RAM to plug into them.

Also  jlcpcb.com/partdetail/Stmicroelectronics-STM32F407VET6/C28730  ~11K in stock (09/22)

That one is very nice, saves a lot of wiring ... and things that could go wrong! :)

Made this sticky due to the chip shortage.

No, I didnt buy a manta, just cb1. I was less enthusiastic about it, but you guys got me interested now.

heres my info dump
notes: i dont know if the remora linuxcnc component will work with non rpi soc's

Btt manta M8P

-Hardware wise it looks usable, they even put the spi pins right beside the rpi header. has mcu sd card also. uses cm4 footprint
-mcu is stm32g0b1 ,currently untested, mbed supports a version of this chip so maybe
-needs jumpers to spi

Fysetc Cheeta mix

-hardware wise it looks fine, similar to their other boards, cm4 spi broken out on rpi header, uses cm4 footprint
-mcu is stm32f401. should be fine, but i havent been able to get fysetc boards to work yet with remora wither their sd/spi setup.
-needs jumpers from spi to spi
MKS SKIPR

- hardware wise spi is broken out and there are 2 sd slots. has rk3328
-MCU is stm32f407, so well supported for remora. could work pretty easy but im having issues with another mks board re: sd card
- hardware wise i like this one the best
-needs jumpers

Mellow Gemini v2

-hardware wise I see an SOC spi broken out, so it looks usable. it looks like they might even have a direct line from mcu spi2 to soc spi0, via some switches I think they use this for automatic firmware updates, but we can use this for remora
-MCU is stm32f405, so could probably work.
-no wires needed possibly

Honorable mention goes to the
Fysetc spider king.
this one is pretty cool.
-pretty good hardware, with a 26 pin rpi compatible pinout for connecting to uart and spi.
-MCU is a socketed replaceable MCU, finally someone gets it. so far only the stm32f407 but others to come.

MKS also has a rockchip based SBC with just spi and uart broken out for a reasonable price

also unrelated, but this thing is pretty slick from BTT, the Raspberry Pad 5,
its a RPI CM4 dsi screen
One of my setups is cm4 + pad5 + skr2,
sans powersupply, the whole controller is 130mm x 85mm
